INCO Engineering s.r.o. is the leading producer of technology for mining hoists and equipment for vertical, inclined, and horizontal transport in underground mines and open pit mines. Having delivered over 700 hoists worldwide, INCO deployed mySCADA to remotely monitor and service their equipment across three sites in Russia — providing 24/7 diagnostics from more than 2,500 miles away.
For their machinery installations in three locations — Orsk in South Ural, Krasnokamensk (both in Russia), and Ostrava, Czech Republic — INCO Engineering needed remote access to their drum hoists during the 2-year warranty period. Without remote diagnostics, technicians would need to travel thousands of miles for every inspection. INCO also needed to prevent warranty disputes by documenting all operational events and detecting overloading of machinery above maximum certified load capacity.
mySCADA boxes with 3G modems were installed and connected to Rockwell Automation PLCs controlling the drum hoists at each site. For locations without mobile coverage, mySCADA Box was connected through the local network. INCO Engineering staff received technical training, and mySCADA technicians supported on-site installation. A secure IPsec VPN communication link connects all sites, enabling INCO's engineers in their Czech office to monitor online machinery status, review the full history of alarms and events using integrated mySCADA Reports software, and remotely readjust PLC settings for fine-tuning of all processes.
