How mySCADA Was Born
Over 25 years ago, mySCADA didn’t exist. What existed was a small engineering company working as a partner for Rockwell Automation — handling large-scale industrial projects across power plants, tunnel control systems, and manufacturing facilities. We were good at our work. But we knew there had to be a better way.
Where It Started
My personal journey began at Procter & Gamble, working on detergent production systems. One challenge that stayed with me: a performance report that took twenty minutes to run. Through SQL optimization and database work, we reduced it to under two minutes. It sounds small today — but at the time, it was a lesson I never forgot: the right engineering makes a real difference.
Projects That Shaped Us
Tunnel Control System — We designed a fully redundant PLC system for a 35-kilometre highway and tunnel network in Northern Bohemia. It featured what was then the largest optical ControlNet network in the world, managing ventilation, emergency systems and dynamic message signs.
Power Plant Systems — Demanding reliability requirements pushed us to build our own historians and visualization layers when commercial SCADA platforms simply weren’t good enough. We passed rigorous 72-day continuous operation tests — not by luck, but by engineering.
Building Something New
Recognising the limitations of existing platforms, we decided to build our own. The milestones came one by one:
- iPad HMI — A revolutionary mobile SCADA app using Objective-C, SQLite and SVG graphics, years before “mobile-first” was a term anyone used in industrial automation
- myPRO — A full SCADA system built on HTML5, JavaScript and SVG, running on both Linux and Windows with a browser as the only client needed
- myACCESS — Secure global connectivity for factories, without the complexity of traditional VPN setups
- myBOX IPC — An all-in-one edge device that brings SCADA, routing and 4G LTE connectivity to a single DIN-rail unit
Why We Do It
We compete through genuine care — not through sales tactics or marketing budgets. We listen to our customers. We iterate quickly. And we never stop learning, even when that means failing a few times along the way.
Twenty-five years in, we’re still building. And we’re just getting started.
